My Grandfather

Hi guys,
My Grandfather passed away last night. He was 92. He went peacefully, his wife of 62 years was by his side and the majority of his children. He was a remarkable man. Although he was a retired pastor he never preached to me. He demonstrated through action what a God centered life looks like. I am very grateful I got to know him and get close to him. He was a great man and will be missed by many.

  1. Condolences, Rob... and a celebration to your grandfather's life.

Thank you for bringing the post up now, as I'm not in a good mood with my inability to comment on the blog. I can fire off a new post, but not a darned comment.

I can't comment from my computer. I'm trying my phone now...

Oh, and Danny, happy Memorial Day to you and your family. Sounds like a fun time.

  2. Condolences here, also Rob. 92 is a ripe old age, and you have a lot to look back on in thinking about what he's taught you over the years. You're fortunate to have such fine man in your life. I hope someday my Grandson can say the same things about me.

  3. Rob,
Condolences from me as well. I'm around tomorrow afternoon, feel free to call me if you like.

I hope that when my time here on this earth is done that people can say the same of me that you say of your grandpa.

  4. Hi guys,
Am home from Indiana, a short bittersweet trip. The service was in the church he presided over for two decades. There were hundreds of folks. A lot of these people knew me when I was a kid and I heard so many stories of my grandfathers kindness.

I believe God works in and through people. The church was filled with folks who the spirit touched through him. It was good to see my uncles-aunts-cousins etc.. I am blessed with the close nit family I have. It was good to be current with them having made amends to all years ago. I was able to be present and emotionally available. Some good posts here since I left. I will give the Jack audio a listen, it's the least I could considering the amount of time it took for PAtrick to upload it. Thanks for the kind words and outreach during this sad time for me, it is appreciated.
